Urban Meyer stepping down

Florida's Urban Meyer, who led the Gators to two national titles during his five seasons with the school, will step down as the Gators coach because of health reasons.

"I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to reevaluate my priorities of faith and family," said Meyer in a statement.

Meyer said he plans to stay involved at the University of Florida. His final game will be the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.

If he finishes out the 2009 regular season strong, he could easily surpass the 2,000 yard mark and put himself in the history books.

Pope Knocked Down

ROME — An “unbalanced woman” jumped the barriers in St. Peter’s Basilica and knocked down Pope Benedict XVI as walked down the main aisle to begin Christmas Eve Mass, a Vatican spokesman said Thursday.
But the pope quickly got back on his feet and celebrated Mass before thousands of people, urging them in his homily to become “truly vigilant people.”
Television images showed a woman in red leap toward Benedict as he began to walk up the central aisle, as the police and bodyguards scrambled to the aid of the 82-year-old pope.

Newscaster George Michael

Longtime sportscaster George Michael, best known as the host of the syndicated program, "The George Michael Sports Machine," has died. He was 70.
Michael, who always had a confident and boisterous style while on the air, worked in radio and television for more than 40 years. He worked on the sports desk at the NBC affiliate in Washington, D.C., from 1980 to 2007.

Pacquiao vs Mayweather - Blood Testing Issue

Almost every detail in the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr is set! The schedule date for the fight in on March 13, 2009 and tensions about it whether who will win. Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach said his fighter is willing to comply with strict drug-testing standards, but Roach won’t allow Pacquiao to have blood drawn 48 hours before the fight. Blood tests for illegal drugs and banned substances are not required by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which would have regulatory control of the bout if it is held in Las Vegas.

Both sides agreed that the drug testing issue is the only hurdle preventing the fight from being finished. Earlier Tuesday, Golden Boy Promotions officially requested March 13 from the Nevada State Athletic Commission to host the show.

Redskin Trick Play Failed

Death of actress Brittany Murphy

A Los Angeles hospital spokeswoman is confirming the death, after inital unconfirmed reports from gossip websites. Actress died at the age of 32 at 10:04 a.m. Saturday. Popular gossip website TMZ.com and blogger Perez Hilton were the first to report the death of the 32-year-old actress. The websites say she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived, later dying in hospital.

Nick Folk - Dallas Cowboys Kickers

Nick Folk is an American football kicker for the Dallas Cowboys. "Again, that was something different that we felt like we needed to do," Phillips said. "Something maybe to kick start [Folk]. If he didn't respond, if he wasn't kicking the ball very good in these situations, well, then. He's kicked it well." Starting at their own 20, the Cowboys converted a third down thanks to Miles Austin. Romo and the 'Boys marched the ball into the Saints redzone and chewed the clock to just a little over two minutes.

Edward "Eddie" Fatu or known as 'Umaga' a retired WWE wrestler has been hospitalized and in a serious condition. He is just 36-years-old and now is on life support. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but reports indicate that past or even possible recent drug use may have played a role. Reports says that the former pro-wrestler died today after being taken off life suppor around 6:00 PM ESTt.
